Magic-2 in a JAP 30000
Magic-2 in a JAP 30000 –
I tried to install a Magic-2 chip into a 30000 (no R) JAP V5 console.
I have configured the chip for the JAP/Asia 30000R-30006R.
The chip is red and is marked on the PCB with M2-V3.0. It is bought from Finim International Italy. They say it is for the following versions: later v4, v5, v6 and v7.
After I had installed it, the CD drive didn't spin at all, not even with original games inserted. The laser lens did lift and the laser light was on after I was closing the CD door.
I took out the chip and the PS2 resumed its normal operation.
My question is: can I use this chip on this version of PS2 and if not, is there another chip suitable to this version ?
I mention that I didn't do any mistake in soldering as I'm doing this job for a long time now and I have very good soldering skills.
either the laser or its a v4 JAP, check the ex-bay.
like charlie says, mess with the white cog!

No Swap chip for SCPH-30000 ( NTSC-J)
No Swap chip for SCPH-30000 ( NTSC-J) –
Please help me make muy kids happy by answering the following two questions ( Thanks in advance ).
1. Which mod chip do I need for SCPH-30000, NTSC-J to boot all games. I have DVD that say NTSC- N/C ? Is there anyone who can install these chips, preferably in California ?
2. The DVDs I have are original imports. Can I play these with the swap method and using an original DVD ? Do I need a DVD made for NTSC-J PS2.
Many thanks for any suggestions. My kids are getting very restless.
