i curently have a magic 2 in my ps2, but i dont like having to shut down the ps2 and hold the reset button to boot dvd movies. Do any of the newer chips like the magic 3 messiah 2 or dms3 auto boot dvds without having to hold the reset button?

NO there is no chip with doing reset boot DVD movies.

damn thats shitty. i hate having to do that trick to play movies... but oh well
