I just finished installing my M2 and I have the following problem, and I was hoping if you could give me some advice or troubleshooting techniques..

The problem is that the console doesn't seem to get out of PS2 mode... both ps2 cd-r's and ps2 dvd-r's work fine.. but it won't play psx cd-r's.. it just goes to the browser which shows the icon of ps2 media.. and it shows ps2 media in the browser, but when you cloick on it it won't work, just flashes black for a second and returns to the browser.... the same with dvd movies.. they also show in the browser as ps2 games... and do the same as the psx backups... the only way I got it to play a dvd movie was by disabling M2 by holding the reset button..

Pls., any advice at all is welcome. Im a little lost..

    Thanks a lot

Insert ps1 disk or dvd-film....turn off console to standby with reset button at front...press and hold reset button until you see the light at eject button illuminate then let go of reset button. This switches M2 to ps1/dvd(film) mode and disc should play..

I did a re-check/overhaul of all the wiring and soldering.. I was installing it on an old Magic 2 installation which had been forgotten since the times of the underlined issue...

It works now, with only a couple of issues:
    1. Most ps1 games shake... its hardly noticeable except on still images, when it is really a bother.. it shakes up and down..
    2. FF7 CD-R is stretchedhorizontally off the screen.
    3. Most importantly, Legend of the dragoon won't work!.. It boots, shows the ps1 logo and then it goes to a black screen with some really dark and intelligible text, and a big red "forbidden" symbol.. is LOTD a mod-protected game??

Thanks if anybody knows anything about the LOTD issue...
The forbidden symbol I mention is like a no-smoking logo, without the cigarrette, you know.. the red circle with a slash in the middle.

    Thanks,

Yup, Legend of Dragoon contains modchip detection code just like Spyro, Tomba, and few others. If its an original, just turn off the Messiah 2. If not, you'll need to create another backup and patch it.

That's one of three things the Neo 4.x will always have over the Messiah. It was 100% stealth. (Plus it was DVD Region Free and it did Macrovision removal.)

But I KNOW I saw a backup working on a modded PSX.. Probably a stealth chip, or a patched backup... any ideas/links/referrals on how/where find some patching info??
