  1. #1 M2 mod clicking noise and no standby
    dorkmeat Guest
Finally got the M2 installed and now makes a clicking noise when I put an original PS2 game in the console. The screen does not change (but at least got it to browser screen). I read that the laser could be dirty, but it is only 1 month old and just played a game earlier in the day before modding the PS2.
On a side note I could not get it into standyby mode either. Maybe I am missing something on this, but could do it before mod. Do I just press the reset button to go to standby, or need to hold it down for like 6 seconds? I tried both, but niether worked.

I think your laser is doing that noise not the clip. I will update this post with a link.

This is most definitely a mis-install. If you can't get it to go into standby by holding the reset button for "like 6 seconds", you got problems. It is not your laser or anything else to do with your console. You should be able to go into standby simply by holding reset until green light on reset button turns to red. Sounds like maybe your reset wire is not connected or poorly connected.

I don't see how the reset button is installed incorrectly when the lights on it comes on and both buttons are functional. I was courious to know if anyone has an idea on what wire(s) could be bad though if it is a bad install.

There is a Troubleshooting Guide in the FAQ section. You said you couldn't put the PS2 in Standby from the Reset button. This suggests that the ribbon cable to the switch is either damaged, not set in it's seating for the motherboard or caught or opierced by a screw.

That makes sense that the cable is damaged, it is not installed wrong (the switch that is). Where can I purchase a new cable from?
    Thanks for the help
