Current situation -
Ordered 5 M2's.
Recieved 5 PAL M2's v1.07 - All 5 had the via on the pcb drilled out & 2 of the 5 had the track cut aswell.
1) Fitted 1st (track cut, via drilled) in PAL v7 - worked perfectly
2) Attempted to fit 1 (via drilled) into a PAL v5 - all 24 wires connected yet only originals worked. Checked all connections for continuity and dry joints and retried - again only originals work.
Tried cutting the track on the pcb and retried - again only originals work. Tried swapping the M2 for another 2 M2's - both times only originals worked. Removed all wires except ground, clock, scex, reset and 3.45v to see if I could get PS1 to work - again no luck, I do not have an original PS1 game however so was unable to test if they still worked.
3) Attempted to fit 1 (via drilled & track cut) into a PAL v7 - only attempted the ground, clock, scex, reset and 3.45v again to see if I could get PS1 to work - again no luck
I would be happier if there was a problem with the PS2's when I turned them on as this would give me a better idea as to what the problem is.
I have gone through Charlie_PS2's great turorials but have so far had no luck with his suggestions. The only thing I have not tried is to add the extra diode, but as I have PAL M2's and the tutorial states PRO's, I assume this is not an issue.
Can someone please confirm, as I have been unable to find this info, that it is possible to only connect the ground, clock, scex, reset and 3.45v within a PS2 on an M2 to get PS1 backups to work? Or am I missing something?
At least that would tell me I don't have 4 out of 5 faulty M2's, and it's just my installations that have been the problem.
Thanks for any help that is offered.
