Would a PS2 to USB converter like the one in the link below work in allowing me to use my old PC keyboard and mouse with the PS2 USB ports in the Linux Kit? This option would be much cheaper for me than shipping USB Keyboards and mice specifically for the ps2, if someone in the Linux Kit scene could let me know if this might be compatible lemme know. Here is the eBay URL to the converters if you want to look at that also....

that's a good question, not only for the linux environment, but what about gaming in general that support the keyboard functions??

I've been wanting to try a USB KB to test it, but i don't know which games support the keyboard, and i only have a wireless keyboard.... so i dun think it'd work anyway unless it's corded...

but if anyone can tell us, that'd be cool

I ordered one of those to test out with Everquest. I will be getting the PS/2 to USB adapter today and I will let you know how it goes.

I hope I'm not bringing up an old thread, but I ordered one of those off ebay to use a keyboard for SOCOM. I think I bought the wrong one though, because I bought a green one. And it doesn't work.

umm..hate to tell you dude, but the playstation 2 doesnt have a "ps/2" port, hence the need for an adapter..

a normal USB keyboard should work for the games that support a keyboard. the reason is that they all include the same generic usb keyboard driver.
the problems that may occur with certain usb keyboards (incl. the usb adapter) is that they may not work very well -- you may need to plug it in before booting, or after booting, etc..
also, i heard many older ps/2 keyboards will not work with a ps/2>usb adapter because they are not built with usb support. the adapter is merely "pass through" so the usb controller has to be built in the keyboard already, from what I understand.

alright I got my adapter today and tested it with everquest using a standard PS/2 keyboard. It all works great!!! You need to get a PS/2 to USB adapter...some idiots on Ebay keep naming the adapters wrong. Mine has a cable for a mouse and one for a keyboard...it has two round spots and one USB slot than you have the right cable.
