Let's et a point about V9 disk read problem
Let's et a point about V9 disk read problem –

Hi all
Ok, I read all that monstrous thread... why ? Obviously, 'cause it happened even to me :-). Try now to get a point all together :
Due to the lack of messiah2 (1.31 and 1.33) on the market, I took, about 3 weeks ago, a good quantity of Matrix MXL2. I'd like to consider me a good and scroupolous installer, and I chipped about 60 PS2 in this year... I done my mistakes in chipping and learned from them in the past. This is the situation :
I dont in the last 2 weeks about 3 V9 (blacks) all with Matrix (Messiah2 are still in their package somewhere in the postal road from GB to italy). Well, one of them, afaik, it's fine 'cause I have no return. One it's been returned to me but the customer said it stopped working after a fall on the floor. I opened and tried to found out the problem but with no success. This one that fell it has the same disk read problem described in other threads (but at the time that was returned to me I didn't know this issue). The third was returned to me for a typical cd/dvd point short symptom. I fixed it (changing from VIA points to DSP points, btw), reassembled it and it worked fine. When the customer came to get it, I turned the PS2 on to show him that it was all right and... boom ! No disk read and spun like hell. THEN I started to browse the forum and found out the issue that, in the beginning was considered by someone as a Messiah2 fault. I'd like to make some consideration :
1) The first time I saw something like this was for a BA58 chip half burn on as V7 due, probably, to a lens coil partial short. Look at this thread about this :
http://www.ps2newz.net/forums/showth...&threadid=8604
So, for my experience, the BA chip CAN partially burn (in the particular, just the focus function is damaged).
2) It happened to me, now, 1 time (maybe 2) with V9 and another chip (Matrix MXL2) so I can assume that this is NOT a M2 direct flaw but it can depend on many factor...
Well, V9 has this 2 'BA-like-chips' (specifical for this issue, the 'BA58-like-chip'), so an answer could be to (a someone proposed) to put a heatsink on the 2 'Ba-like-chips', since the damaged function, considering the symptoms, is the focus function.
Well, now the sticky question : Anyone got this problem with DMS3 V9 ???
Bye !!

Chaser, I have searched numerous forms for that answer because I want to buy a ps2v9 usa. I have found that people who installed it have praised it for it speed of loading backups. The problems I have read are all installation and overcome by trouble shooting guide listed on dms3.com. I think it is to early to tell the full picture but it appears to my research that is more reliable then the messiah 2. I bought it because of my research and the lack of customer info from messiah. I could not find any info that DMS3 snuffed the motherboard like messiah and the like chips. Hopefully I made the right choice.
