The other day i got fed up with my machine. So I decided it was time to clean up the lens.

I founs a tutorial on the net, and I followed it step by step. upon testing ny PS2 refused to load anything originals, backups you name it. Plus there was a strange sound coming from the tray.

Took the PS2 apart again to see what was going on. i found otu that I had left the plastic cover of the lens loose. I tightened it and tested the machine again. Same results, but normal sound coming from the tray.

Dissasembled it again, to check. I do not know how, but this time i managed to mess up the eject ribbon. One of the tracks broke. And so, i could not load or eject any games.

Somebody told me i could solder this track so i did. Plugged back in and te eject button is working(the tray is coming in and out again) On a side note, I tested the ribbon for continuity, out of the 7? tracks it has, only 5 measured continuity. Since I did not test the ribbon cable the first time, I am not sure about this: but is this normal or do all tracks have to have continuity ?

Now the led on the eject button will not light up and the led on the reset button does not change to green.

    Anybody has ideas or suggestions??

It sort of look like the symptoms I had when I had faulty BA chips.

They do carry continuity. You will need to repair teh tracks correctly. When thats done, check back with us if it still fails

You could always order a new ribbon cable.
