Last chance saloon - broken Via Point B - should i solder direct to chip leg?

Problem whilst installing matrix infinity to V4 PS2 - despite an otherwise clean solder job i managed to burn out both B via points whilst trying to get solder to stick, are there any other connecting points or should i attempt a wire bridge direct from chip to chip ?

(Just our of intrest - what does B control and does it pass through more than two chips?)

Familiar symptoms to many on these boards - PS2 now stuck at black screen, no eject although green and blue lights still working. Been banging my head on a brick wall for about a week now would appreciate any help that other members could offer.

Although risky, this option seems to be my last port of call before admitting defeat and announcing it officially dead.

That wouldn't work. What you did when you broke of the via is broke a connection. You have to solder the pin and run it back to the back of the board where the via is suppose to be connected. This way your ps2 will work like normal again. It is pretty difficult to complete your mod after you do this wire mod. Good luck. Right now I think you need a new ps2.

well if he's burnt both vias he can just link up the chips together

Shouldn't be that bad of a repair, just a lengthy one. Scratch off a bit of the trace going to the VIA, Use a multimeter to find out where on the chip it goes, then do the same on the back. Scratch some of the trace cover off, find out where it goes (probably to another VIA) and then you can find that VIA/pin on the top of the board and connect it, or just connect it to the backside of the board.

Then run the wire from the modchip to that same point (that's the most difficult part, getting both wires to stick to same point.)
