Laser Problems!!! I Think
Laser Problems!!! I Think –
everytime i play my ps2 games, cd or dvd the laser will lose its focus after 30 minutes or so, and then some of the DVD games have a circle scratch after i eject it, CAN ANYONE HELP ME??? my ps2 is a V1, and i tried the cog adjust.. the cog will reset itself when i turn on the ps2..PLEASE HELP!!!
This is a problem that a pro will have to solve. If my diagnosis is correct, the laser sled is too close to the disk at one end which is whay it loses focus. The vi, unfortunately has a servo adjust (on the v4 you can manually adjust this) which is why it repair at switch on. But there is a mechanical failure. For more info on the technological problem, look up the "White Cog" method article at http://charlie.ps2newz.net/main.shtml
i can't call myself a pro but i've been able to repair sum ps2 prob myself, can u tell me wat to do?
can i adjust the azimuth of the laser??? would this help?
I THINK I DID, i adjust i think its the azimuth, and now everything works perfect..dvd cd .. but only vertically though.. if i put my ps2 horizontal.. the thing comes back...
Given that the DVD laser wavelength is c. 650 nm, and that mechanisms and disks are not perfect, the difference between vertical and horizontal is sufficient when you are on the edge of your adjustment threshold to cause different behaviour.
So maybe a little more adjustment (noting where you are now) will return same behaviour in both positions.
One has to wonder why Laser Azimuth adjustment was necessary in the first place.
