I have a v4 here that is getting a mod chip installed. I have a question on the cd/dvd pots. Which one is which? Is the dvd pot the one closest to the center of the unit or the one closest to the outside edge?

This unit has alot of trouble booting dvd-r media and I am thinking the laser is starting to go because I checked the resistance and the pot that is closest to the center is reading like 560k and the other one is more normal at 1016k. It doesn't appear that the unit was ever opened up before. I am just thinking that possibly this thing wasnt that great from factory and they adjusted the pots there? I dunno.

    Thanks

This doc (3mb!) tells you how to adjust. The level will depend on the unit, if you dont have a scope then try reducing a fraction at a time, I am told not to go below 800 for the dvd pot or it will fry the laser.

I would look at the media before tampering with the pots though - does it not work with decent media?
