laser Circuit board replacement

I have a v1 ps2 which does not read dvd games. I was wondering if just replacing the laser Circuit board will fix the problem or if I need to buy the hole laser to get the dvd to work? any help or on this would be great.

just buy a v7 laser it will work

But you might need to cut a track off it.

not if u get the right one lol i do it all the time just get a close face laser v7
