LA/BA faulty?How to find it out?

Hi all,

I need to know how i can find out if the LA or/and the BA chip are faulty or not?

I have one ps2 that does spin up and then does not do anything. I did a research on the mobo and find out that that a have a short on the BA chip pin 18 and 19 are on ground. I know that pin 19 normly is on ground but not 18.

So could any one help me?

Are the LA / BA chip's the same???? Can i replace a BA type for a LA type?

they are not hte same. for la there are replacements to replace them. For ba it's the same thing. Check the fuse if it's blown chip could be gone for ba check pin 7 i think if it's connected to groudn the chips blown. wat are your symtoms

Hi only the pins that i post before are on ground not others.

I does spin up and read toc, same a a normal startup but then it stops reading (there is no modchip installed)
dvd lens is oke.

then stops reading it could be a possibilty that hte laser is gone

I don't think so because a new laser is also not working. Also it works on a other board.
