before i go ripping out this duo2se i installed in a v5 GH-15 board, i wanna know if its possible that a khs400-r laser that read dvd's strongly and quickly, would die and stop spinning after the cd portion of the laser fails? wouldnt the dvd portion of the laser still work?
this ps2 had a simple ps1 mod installed, so obviously, this ps2 i have spent most of its life reading PS1 cd-r's.

basically, im asking whether a laser is completely dead after the laser ceases to read either cd or dvd's. would that cause no spinning?

I've had many a laser decide to not read either CD's or DVD's, which is why tinkering with the pots for one or both sometimes works. But this alone does not stop a disc from spinning. Usually either a fuse or the LA at that point.
