You need to use thicker wires for your ground and power, a 22 awg works well, and also keep the ground wire as short as possible.

You also should check the laser, does it have any problems with any originals at all, like the purple bottomed discs, suppose to be tougher for the older models to read when the lasers are going bad. Might need to adjust the laser a little, maybe the cog wheel.

Try and run a backup of a ps1 game. Hold the reset button down until the blue light comes on, only need a couple of wires on right for the ps1 games to work.

If your ps2 has video, sound, and actually turns on, probably not the bios wires, so that is a good thing. Could be something wrong with the cd/dvd pins, though.

    Good luck.

Resolder the bios points again. Cause it's not making connections. I had the same thing happen to me. Try to resolder the bios points.

Well My day with my Ps2 is over.I have 2 dead Ps2's both boot up to black screens. Those A B l wires were a toughy. After I was done with the initial install I was confident everything went real smooth and looked good. But after it not loading back-ups, neither ps1 or ps2(I did try both thanks for the help guys!)I went back and kept checking and checking I redid the Bios wires and the power and ground all seemed ok but nothing would go with back-ups.I kept getting the red please insert a ps2 disk so I know my laser and media are good.I had some bad media and it would just give me Disk read error.
Now Im just going to save money and buy a Pre-modded Ps2 and not full with it.YOu guys know of any good deals on pre-modded ps2's????Or maybe just a pre-modded V4 mainboard???Again thanks for all the help it was really appreciated.

I wouldn't throw in the towel just yet. Get the consoles over to a pro. Any of us could tear into those consoles and most likely find your issue. Just hate to see you waste anymore money when those two might be salvageable.
