Japanese V8 problems?

This is for any installers who have successfully done a V8 090 bios install on a SPCH-390000 JP unit. Is there any trick to this, or certain chip that will work. I have been searching the forums, and see everyone who has had trouble with these, but no solution. I installed a Matrix first, can do the BIOS update, can boot Dev, Disable, PSX, etc, but PS2 backups do not authenticate. This includes original US titles. I then tried a ***3+, and this would not even boot the BIOS update disc. In frustration, I tried all of the points (T, U, V, etc the normal points for a ***3) but still no go. I am thinking of trying a Crystal Chip, but am I wasting my time? Is there any chip or wiring method that will work 100% with a JP V8?

I don't know which version of matrix chip you used. For the matrix family chips, only Matrix Infinity and Matrix MX4 are JP console friendly. The rest of chips are only for PAL and NTSC USA
consoles.

I have a JAP 37000L and it works FLAWLESS with it and my BB Navi hdd. Chip is ****ing great. Make sure you wire it up RIGHT. Don't connnect G point. Just connect H and I. I am almost willing to bet that might be your problem. Also check all the bios points and for god sake take that piece of shit *** out of there. That thing will cause far more headaches and is no surprise it doesn't work.

Didn't use point G, wired it 100% per diagrams at http://infinitymod.com/matrix/files/...iwan-V7-V8.JPG just like every other mod I've done. This one may be a lost cause, all I can find online are people with problems on this system. And you're right, Matrix has been great in all installs I've done, this is the first system that's ever had problems with it (or any other chip for that matter)...

In case anyone was interested--
I have now installed a Crystal Chip and it's ALMOST working correctly. The best so far anyway. It now boots DVD movie, PSX and PS2 CDR flawlessly. However, I simply cannot get it to authenticate import (in this case US titles) backups! I haven't tried Japanese DVD-R as I don't have any... Anyone have any more ideas?

What about Japanese originals? Do they boot alright?

I am assuming so because US originals boot alright, but that is going to be my next test. I need to get a JP original from the cust to test with...

I heard the infinity doesnt work with dvd-r on jpn v8 consoles.

Apparently neither does the Crystal. Everything but DVD-R works perfectly on this. Does anyone know a fix for this, or a different chip, etc that will work?
