Jap PS2 DVD Issue –
02-05-2003,03:19 PM
Hey guys!!!
I have a Jap PS2, spch 30000, ver 4 no gap, with the magic3 modchip installed.
I now know that even with the modchip, I can not play DVD's from other regions. I have found out that I need something like the region X DVD to do that.
Anybody knows of alternate(preferably one that does not involve disk swaping) ways of getting DVD's from other regions to play on my PS2.
If that is not possible, where can I get the Region X DVD

Well...the only ways you can get around this problem is either:
A) getting a Region DVD X or Action Replay 2 V2
or
B) waiting for the DMS3 (no known release date currently), which does multi-region.
Now...the only other thing that could get in your way of the DVD Region X is the DVD Driver version #. They way you check it is boot up with no disc in the drive and hit the Triangle button on your controller.
It should tell you the DVD Driver Version. If you are at version 2.10 or below, you can still get the DVD Region X, if higher, get the Action Replay 2 V2.
My recommendation is to just get the Action Replay 2V2 as you get more bang for your buck. You get the GS/AR codes capabilities, Mem card crusher, and multi-region DVD all in one.
There are a few places to get the DVDRX or AR2V2. Just depends on where you are and where you want to get it from. Lik-sang is where I got mine and was reputable enough at the time before the whole M$ bust. They have gone more legit now so I don't expect any problems.
Lan Kwei is another, but they do everything by e-mail. Both of those are in Hong Kong, but if you are in the US, I hear Japan Video Games is not bad either.

Yes...it will work, as long as you are using the correct codes for the correct version of the game you are playing (ie. Gundam DX is JAP codes Gundam: Federation vs. Zion is USA codes)

You Can Get A US One, Only If Your JAP PS2 Is Like Mine And Can Boot On Browser In PSX Mode US Imports, But PAL will take you back to browser when you try booting it...

Bah, Off with the DMS3 Stuff, it would, but won't let you play pals, only asian models do, and i think a dms3 would be a waste of money, because with all the discs etc. i have, i can do this all with a swap disc, and not be lazy.
