I've installed 4 units, but sudenly... *puff*

One of them made strange CD sounds, but it work nice. Then it freezed with a running backup (after using it for a while) and when I put reset the CD made a horrible noise "ppppprrrrrrtttt" and now the tray won't open, and there's no video no nothing.

All units were GH-019 (v7) and Magics3.

Any ideas?

If in addition to the story you told, you reset after ejecting and reinserting the disk, then the noise you describe may be the disk failing to engage horizontally on the spind and it has skewed. yOU HAVE TO GET THE TOP OFF THE ps2 AND THE DISK UNIT and extract the disk. Take a look or even a picture.
