Hi everyone! I'm new to this forum (which seems really great, by the way) and the ps2 scene in general. I was hoping perhaps you could give me a little advice.

I'm considering getting a magic2 and was wondering just how hard it is to install. I've done one soldering project before (attaching wires to a ps controller pcb) and didn't have any problems. The contacts were quite big, though, and I also drilled holes in the board to hold the wires in place. I'm hoping that some people who have done the job can give me a general idea of what I would be getting myself into. Does it sound like I might be able to pull it off or would I be way over my head?

    Thank You

    Hello tru3tn01,
Magic II's are quite straight forward to install, as they are not as difficult to do than say a version 3 or 4 PS2. I'm assuming that you have a version 5, 6 or 7 machine. Have a look at Charlie_ps2's soldering tips post, as that should give you a good indication of what to expect.
If you've had very little or no soldering experience, then I'd advise you to leave it to a pro, otherwise you risk damaging your PS2 and possibly the chip as well.
Good luck on what ever you decide to do.
