Installed my Magic2 and nothing happens... –

Well i finally got the Magic2 v7 installed and i thought i did a good for such small components. Had some problems getting the wire to stick to the 3.3v point. Mounted the chip, put everything back together. Hook up the rca cables, turned the power on and NOTHING. The screen did briefly flash and the drive does click. So i inserted a psx game and heard the clicking again and also heard the disc moving around but no nothing on the screen. I dont think it was a black screen, its the normal blue video screen. I didnt solder to any VIAs. I dotn think the PS2 is ruined since the drive door open/closes and also can hear the disc spining inside. Any ideas? I guess one thing to do is make sure i didnt arch any solder over to another chip leg. any help is appreciated.

It's all in the Troubleshooting Guide in the stickies. Whatever's wrong is in there. A misinstall certainly.
But do read the Troubleshooting Guide.

well i found that the 5v and 3.3v wires came off. I'm having trouble getting the 3.3v wire to stay. I even use flux. Is there another 3.3v point somewhere else i can attach to? Other than that i think the other solder points should be good to go.

You're not the only one.
I am having trouble keeping th 5V, 3.3V, and GND wires to stay on the points.
It's gotten so bad to the point that the 3.3V point barely has a metal contact left on it anymore.

You also might want to try using stranded wire instead of solid wire.
I've been using 22awg solid wire, and charlie_ps2 has recommended trying to use stranded wire instead.
I'll have to go out to by some 22awg stranded wire to give those points another shot.

stranded wire is alot more flexible.

YOu know how you turn your TV to input video that has the blue screen. Well thats all i get when i turn my PS2 on. i dont get no black screen, no browser screen. So would a bridged pin cause no video? Like i said in the 1st post, i can still open/close the disc tray, hear the disc spin, but thats it.

still getting the same problem, even with the 3.3 an 5 v fixed? I am having the same problem as you. I get a grey screen which is normal for my TV. It says unusable signal which is what it would do if nothing was plugged in. I too get a slight clicking sound and my lights all seem to be workin as normal.
I am almost positive that at least one of my wires came loose. I think I need to find another place to mount besides the expansion slot "cage".
I am about to go through the trouble shooting guide now, but wanted to hear what you are up to on this post.

most likely...
I backed out all the way, and now my system is working. I ordered some new tools to make it easier. Including 0.1 mm soldering point, solder paste, 60x-100x pocket microscope and a desoldering tool. I am going to clean it up real good and then start over, being extra careful on the cd/dvd controller I am positive the problem is there. I have to solder directly to the controller, because my only other option is the VIA's.
My problem sounds exactly the same as yours.
