infinity se - will not boot copies!!! please help

Hi,

Just wondering if someone can help me, my impatiant friend went to a local computer fair today to get his ps2 chipped, he could'nt wait until monday when my genuine infinities will be here.

he was told these are the best chip on the market and handed the gentlemen £80 to get it fitted.

On his return home the ps2 boots ok, but only boots originals and when the originals are booting under the playstation 2 logo its says infinity v1.38...

but when you put a copy in the drive spins up and then the red screen appears asking for a playstation 2 disc.

any ideas why this may be happening, i have fitted over 100 genuine infinities, i have never fitted a clone and never would consider it...

I just want to help out a friend if i can....

The ps2 is a scph 39003, i think thats a version 7, the motherboard is a GH-22.

Thanks alot for the reply, i decided in the end to take my genuine infinity out of my ps2 and put it in his and guess what it worked like a charm first time...

the moral of the story is you egt what you pay for,,, and thats why i never use clone for that little bit extra you can get a decent modchip and have less problems in general..

Remember: If ur in PAL land, u have to attach the H wire to get it to work, though the diagrams show that u dont need to. Ive experienced this on some chips myself and ive read lot of posts on this forum that state the same. H wire is required on PAL MI clones and according to Matrix Team it dosent "hurt" to attach the H wire, though its only theoretically is needed on NTSC consoles.
