I'm such a noobie.. –
I just started looking into modding my PS2 for the sole purpose of playing burned copies of games. I was wondering if anyone could give me any helpful advice of what kind of mod that I need to purchase and perhaps a few "do and do nots" for a heads up. Also I read the sticky topic and have no clue what any of that is. As you can see I'm pretty lost here but am a fast learner so please be anyone patient and willing to teach me either respond to the thread or IM me at Nizzleberry89 via AIM.
Well one big don't: Don't make illegal copies of games.
any mod chip will do, i would get a real matrix infinity mod chip as for advice if you have never worked with solder iron than get an installer to install the chip for you and use good meida on your ps2!
First you have to find what PS2 version you have!
Then you have to choose if you want solder or no solder solution...
i wud get a matrix infinity.....or a crystal chip (cuz it has dna$ auto patching)...
if you've never modded a ps2 i wouldnt start on your own one. the soldering is very delicate and one wrong move can easily turn ur ps2 into a door stop.
to practice i baught a dead ps2 of my mate
it is really exciting to though
i never soldered b4 and i succesfully modded my Ps2 V7 with a matrix chip.
i killed 2 as well lol
If you are a beginner in soldering, go get some spoil or old hardware to try out first, there are some thread in this website with very good picture of soldered modchip.
Always keep everything clean when soldering, use low power solder gun, be patient, do it one by one no haste, soldering was done in 1-2 second at one point no need to count but be sure to be very fast...
ALWAYS = PRACTICE MAKE PERFECT!!!
Jenko - thats a fine idea. if you have a mate who mods ask him for a dead board and some dead chips and practice.
