I switched on the switch while in the middle of playing vice city. Nothing adverse happened.

switching on the modchip while a game is running causes no problems. I've been doing it since i've got the chip. I get 100% boot rate and never had a freeze, if I remembered to switch off the modchip, with any game. For $35 it was definitely worth it. It'll probably also help when they start using antimodchip tech, since you can switch it off right after the boot code is given.
