Hi
I am new to this forum.I have a pre modded slim ps2.I dont know which mod chip it has. There is no version display. The mod chip can play dvd9,all region dvd,ps1 and ps2 discs. For dvd or ps1 I need to press the power/reset button twice. And to switch off the chip I need to press reset 3 times.I think it is a ripper3.I dont want to open the case of the ps2.Is there any way to identify the chip? Please help!

If you really want to know, you have 2 options:
1) open the PS2. You said you don't want to do this, so this is off the table.
2) Contact the person who sold you the premod and ask.

I have scph 75004cb slim ps2.What version is it? Then what all modchips are compatible with it? The store which sold me are also ignorant. The problem with opening a slim ps2 is that the top opening mechanism is easy to break and VERY costly to replace.
The chip boots dual layer discs perfectly. But for dvd and ps1 discs i need to press reset twice on booting.

The problem is that once you get past the list of 'big name' chips that Jenko posted you run into the realm of fly-by-nite Chinese chips and God only know what you have at that point. You'd be surprised just how many different chips there are.
