I was able to finish soldering the points on the ps2 motherboard today. But when i tried to boot an original ps2 game, it says disc read error...

Also im not sure if this could be the problem, but i accendtly put solder on 2 pins when i tried to solder point S on my ps2 , and when i used desolder braid top try and clean it off; the pins were bent and not connect to the main ps2 pcb, but its is connnected to the black fuse. if this fixable im willing to ship my ps2 to anyone who could repair it and could resolder some points for me , if they can, at a price of 20 USD's.

I'll try and scan my ps2 pcb. P.S. , the ps2 can start up and all and the reset /eject button works....

You're gonna have to pay for repair + installation. Cause modders usually redo the work of their customer because the customer might have soldered incorrectly.

ok this is image of the install. does anyone know if the three bent pins that arent connected to the pcb, are the cause of this problem?

edit: point I wasnt connected properly, I'll try connecting that again, and see what comes out , but if anyone know how to repair the pins on the black fuse, to make them reconnect to the pcb, I'd appreciate that. Or know of any good electronic repair store....

K3N with all due respect, everybody told you not to install your chip not unless you want a dead PS2,but you said you wanted to and you said you were going to practice doing so,everybody told you to atleast practice a mounth of soldering 1 hour a day,but regardless you tried to chip your PS2,so Im sorry for this but there wont be enay more help from me,if you practiced and attemted to do so after we told you your good enought you wont have this problem.

BTW its not a "Black Fuse",and it is extreemly hard to reset those pins if not inpossible judging from the picture.

Yes, those are small pins so you must have a very fine point soldering iron and some patients. It's not impossible but very difficult, for me anyways.

Dude, don't get me wrong but you did a wonderfull job with that install. Be happy if you only have to pay the repair and do not have to buy a NEW board. Everybody suggested you send it to a PRO installer. You refused, now there you are. You really think an IC with 160 or so legs will work if you damage 3 legs ? Oh, man... Also, you crossed with your wires every integral circuits that a pro should avoid from, but never mind, you can still sell that dead machine for some bucks in the B/S/T section. There were many guys who were interested in your machine if I remember correctly, as they belived you will kill it. Now you have done, so this was your FIRST lesson. Hope you learn from it anyway.

    regards, Stephen

pS: the reset and eject do not have anything to do with that IC, so even if they work you damaged your board. One PRO will probably be able to repair it but for 20 bucks it is quite questionable, a repair plus an installation probably will cost you much much more.

How did you manage to knock them off of their spots? Were you pressing too hard? What you can do is connect them back to the board using some 30ga wire or something, but even then those points are in pretty close proximity of each other.

You really should have taken their advice instead of thinking just because you've built a pc before you'd know how to solder. They are two entirly different things. Building a PC is a peice of cake, even an 11 year old can do it.

Its the same way the romeo mod is performed, you head those points up until it melts the bit of solder on them and makes them easier to lift up off the board. I've never heard of anyone doing it with desoldering braid, though... perhaps he left the braid over that spot for too long.

I'm not sure what else can be said. I guess some folks will always prefer to risk the hard road to education and enlightenment. I hope K3N can get it repaired for cheap.
