I think I killed it... –
Well, I modded my first ps2 today. It is a ps2 version 2 with a Matrix Infinity (blue dot). I booted up a normal ps2 game and all went well. I then put in a backed up copy of GTA: San Andreas and it booted. I played it for a minute, then it said dirty disc/no disc. I figure the media isn't good enough. I reset and nothing happened. After a few more resets it finally started. It now goes to a black screen, then to the grey info screen. It shows my memory card and the gold disc, but no matter what i put in it (ps2, ps1, dvd, ps2 backup) it says it is a dvd movie, but will not play it. I think i will leave my v12 unmodded...
Did you remember to put electric tape on the modchip? so then it won't touch the metal casing?
yeah. that was my first problem. So, i took it apart and taped it up. But this started happening after i taped it. I'm going to try it again with the mod chip out and see what happens...
Have you tried disabling it ?Your problem sounds to me as a solder fault.I think some of the Via solders has been released. If it doesn't work by disabling I would hardly recomment full Uninstall, cleaning of the board and reinstall. Also for the Vias there is special pen(I donnot remember its name) just like an eraser that will scrach the lacker off. Also you should use flux.Generally if is very difficult to kill a modchip no matter how stupid thinkgs you do.Most likely the PS2 fuses blow up rather than the chip.Since it starts it is not a problem in your case.
I'll try disabling it. I want to look over my job again with a magnifying glass, because i think i may have unsoddered a connection on one of the ICs. Got to learn somehow, right? Thanks guys.
