I screwed up..... Black screen question
I screwed up..... Black screen question –
Well I've been reading and searching but I can't find the advice I'm looking for. I tried installing a Messiah 2 pro on my V2 PS2 and things weren't going too great so I took it out and put my PS2 back together just to see if it would still work. I turned it on and it booted normally but because I forgot to put a disc in, it went to the red screen. I put a disc in and hit reset. It made a strange "humming" noise for a couple seconds and then it went to black screen, no sound, no picture. Everything else seems to work, but it still makes a strange humming when I press reset. Any tips? I checked two fuses and they were fine. Are there more than two fuses? I de-soldered everything pretty good. I couldn't see any bridges with my magnifying glass. I hope its not f*cked. Does Walmart give you cash back or just store credit?
check all the wires for short especialy in bios.
I bet you have mixed up the CLOCK with another wire(if use pair of wires maybe mixed with GROUND).
Also check the reset.
When you forget to put in a disk, it does not go to the red screen but to the browser. So your PS2 did not work correctly after removing the chip. (and that's sad) These strange noises used to come from the laser as it tries to read *or tries to find the groove* I bet you have the same problem as many others, check the laser's coils first, maybe they are burnt. And if that is the case, you probably have your BA partially burnt aswell.
It did go to the browser first and then the redscreen after a few seconds. What would cause the laser coils to be screwed or the BA to be burnt?
i had the same problem as you. at first, the startup screen came up. I put in a real game, yay it detects. Suddenly, IN THE BROWSER SCREEN, it freezes. Turn it off, try to turn it on again, eject tray won't open and ps2 is dead dead dead.
Just keep cleaning with alcohol, q-tip to apply and toothbrush to scrub. It took me three times to do it (put it back together 3 times) but the ps2 was ok in the end.
Thanks for the support Carnyharhar. I'll keep trying that.
