    sorry for sounding so n00b-ish, but I am, and I can't help it =P

    Anyhow, as I was opening up my Ps2 (v4, datecode 1c --, the silver ribbon between the power/reset buttons and the mobo (?) got pulled out from the PS2, so now my front panel won't work...

    can anyone help me ?

    btw, it's a messiah (original) with NTSC fix, if that matters at all

    is the cable damaged? do you see a rip?

    smartass comment would be: if its pulled out, plug it back in. :-)

    the cable is intact

    ok, did it disconnect from where the RESET/EJECT Buttons are or from the mobo side where the cdvd drive is?
    if u snapped it in half, then solder together until u find one!

    it is intact... i didnt snap it..
    it just got pulled outta the mobo side, not from the RESET/EJECT buttons on the case itself.

    lemme look at my mobo i currently have out
    it goes into the white horozontal port all the way to the left.

    The answer has been given. Lift the white fixing tab on the mobo socket; place the cable onto it and latch it down again.

    No idea which way round the cable goes.
