I have misinstalled a point and... –
It's the first time I've installed a Magic3, and silly me didn't realized that where the "W" point connects to, there are 3 points (as opposed to the other side where there are only 2). I meant, there's a little point in the middle of W and W1 (Alt).
So I soldered to W1 and it touched the middle point and I wasn't aware. I turned on the PS2 and it worked fine, but when I put reset it didn't turn on...
The DVD unit only gives a little spin and that's all...
Right now I'm trying to untouch both pins, but anyone what kind of component is that? Could i caused a short? In such case, which fuse should I check?
Ok, I cleaned the W1 point and the PS2 still doesn't turn on...
I forgot to say that it's a GH-019 and a Magic3 3.0
Also, the tray works normally.
Anyone? Thanks a lot!
its a diode what you have done is shorted w to ground i ADVISE do not turn the machine on until this short has been cleared if its left in place while current is running it will KILL the cd/dvd controller you have if you cannot clear the short leave it well alone dont touch it and leave it to a pro.
check all surface mount fuses and see if any have blown if not the cd/dvd controller will have blown out this needs a pro to remove the cd dvd controller and replace it using a rework station.
also turn the board over just to the upper left of the battery is a cap uec 10 smell it if it smells of fish it has leaked and needs replacing.
