  1. #1 PS2 I cant finish installing my modchip.. HELP
    vampiric99 Guest
I just bought "Magic V Universal No-swap Mod chip" for playstation 2. I have a version 1 U.S. Playstation and I cant seem to be able to finish installing it. My main problem is that on the PCB backside there is another board on top of it I cant get off. In the diagram for the back side (http://www.modchipstore.com/customer....php?pageid=30) there is not a board on top of it, and in the disassemble PS2 faq they have, they are using a later version ps2 and the board is not on the back side like it is on mine. I've taken out the screws but something underneath between the 2 boards is holding them together and I cant take it off. If anyone knows of a way to take off this board please help. I have been unable to find a faq anywhere that shows exactly how to take off it.

    Please help......

If I am not mistaken, I believe the Magic V is only compatible with version 5 and above consoles.

Regardless, the v1 and v2 consoles have four large posts that join the smaller board with the motherboard. Those four posts need to be de-soldered in order to separate the two boards.

it's not actually a magic 5, just some magic code(EDIT: i don't know who's code they're using on that chip, because they use a full A-I) on a sx48 kinda like the apple...BTW That diagram is a v3 diagram
vampiric- you can go to www.foundmy.com, and look at their diagrams for the messiah2, and use VIA's for your mnop/qtuvr, it's kinda hard...just remember not to use the messiah2 W for your magic, and you can also use the alt SCEX instead of the one on the back side....sorry if my post doesn't make much sense...

QUESTION, does your ps2 board look exactly like that one, most have the bios on top, i rarely see one on the backside

Thanks for the heads up on the information. Now when you say the 4 large post's I need to de-solder, do you mean the 4 that have 2 pieces of plastic sticking up beside them that are holding something down and also has a chip beside it that has a foam piece covering it. Pico996969 your right I couldnt under stand , but I have the first version of the PS2 released in the U.S., and the main reason I know is because I was at EB at midnight the first night they released the PS2. But thank you two for your help, and I hope you can answer the question I just posted. Thanks a bunch
