what are my options. i hope it does not cost too much.

first you need to figure out if your ps2 uses a open face or closed face laser. Open up the ps2 and take the laser out, if it has a green and pink labels then its open face, if it has a yellow lense then it is a khs-400c.

once i have that information where can i find a good source for cheap lasers (both types) in US ?

it must be opened up huh ? cannot be known by model number ?
