    HI all

    plz can u tell me how install a new lens to my 30001(v4)NTSC

    and what a model lens i take? 400b?

    Take out 8 screws on the bottom of the console. Lift off cover. Now you willsee the dvd/cd drive. There are 4 more screws, take them out. After the dvd/cd cover is removed you will see the laser and 2 rails.. at the end of each rail there is a screw... remove the right hand side screw only. Lift out the laser unit, unplug the ribbon cable. etc.. easy as that.. more probs just postem.. gl

    thx but the install there is a 2 solder joint do i remove tthem or just leave them?

    I think they are the static straps , you have to remove em.

    Make sure I have never changed one !!!!

    you dont need to unsolder anything.. take off the cover on the dvd drive... take out that right screw thats hilding down the rail.. pull out the rail and laser unit..

    Yes, you do have to de-solder the anti-static straps if it has not already been done for you (some retailers do this already or resell used lasers that are already done). If you see four solder pads on the bottom of the laser, it is already done. If you see two, you need to desolder before installing. The anti-static straps are there to protect the laser while shipping.
