OK i know that ive to open my PS2 to check if it is a V8.
Ive heard that it is a V8 if the # on the bios chip ends with 080 or 090. Is it true? What if ive a 070? Can it also be a V8??
    My numbers are 2002 scei - D 110 050 S48 -B10 070

    IS a GH-022 always a V8?

    Please clarify this for me.

    Thank you

    Yours is a v7.

A GH-022 with BIOS 090 MIGHT be a v8 and WILL be a v8 if it is Jap or HK.

    Thank you Charlie

    Last question:

I want to install a Magic 3.6 to this board. Ive already installed a Magic 3.6 to a V7 but this new V7 board is a little bit different.

There is solder on the mother board this is with the middle pins there are about 3 of them on each side on the underside, where the copper ends are soposed to be for the solder of the bridge the spots are still there but instead of the copper color there is solder.

As ive already said i have sucessfully installed one already but i'm not sure the bios of this V7 had the same physical features. should I Ignore and proceed or is this a new version which is not compatible with Magic 3.6?

    Thanx again.

Your description doesn't enable me to know exactly where you are describing. So any advice would be guesswork.

If it's a Gap Bios ve Non-Gap BIOS you're wondering about, ignore the gap and pretend the three pins were there.

There is a useful post about that in the FAQ/Guides section: BIOS PINS DISPOSITION I think it's called.

I think he's referring to the CD/DVD controller pads on the under side of the motherboard. It's normal for some to have solder already on the pads, same in the case without.

Thanks for the great support. I will try now to install the Magic 3.6 on this V7.

    Another questions:

1)I am right that a V8 is only released in Asia region?
2)What about US and european market?
3)And what about the new SCPH-39001N (with network adapter)? Is it still a V7?
    4) Does it have 080 or 090 bios?

    Thanks again

The v8 can have an 090 or an 080 bios. The v8 has a dsp in the bios that cant boot dvd-r. What model no and region is this ps2. The SCPH-39001 N is just a v7 with a network adaptor thats all. I just wanted to give you some info about the v8.
