ok, the china-magic website states (magic 3 faq) that
quote "Q : How many verions of Magic 3 are there?"
A: Right now there are 3 versions of Magic 3 applicable to all regions. Each Magic 3 modchip is identified by a sticker with the legend "JP" or "A" or "B"."
From this i get the impression that there is no "universal" chip applicable to all regions BUT it goes on further to state that
quote "Q : Which Magic 3 is for PAL and which for NTSC ?
A: Each Magic 3 chip is fitted with solder pads that have to be bridged to indicate whether or not the Magic 3 is to be fitted into a PAL PS2 or a JAP PS2. "
my question is to anyone who has installed a blue magic 3 universal on a pal machine - where the hell is that jumper (there are no diagrams on china-magic for this)? I thought this chip would autodetect if it is being installed ina a pal machine like the messiah 2 pro - is this the case? lastly, is the blue magic 3 compatible with the pal scph 39002 v7 board?

Magic 3 isn't ubiquitous. If you have the Magic 3U it should work everywhere. There are no region jumpers and they haven't go their FAQ right.
The BLUE version is the Magic 3U. Supposed therefore to work in 39002 v7.
