I have some wires that are pretty damn close to touching, if not actually touching, that I want to check. I used a magnifying glass, but i want to be sure. How do you use a multimeter to check for bridges?

Put the meter to OHMS. Put one lead on one wire/pad, and the other on the other wire/pad.
(I'll assume the meter is digital)
If they are touching as you suspect you will see 0 on the readout, or something VERY close to zero (0 to 5).
If you get a reading somewhere in the 100's or above (since I don't know the exact points you're looking at) they are probably not shorted (touching).
The meter will read THROUGH the path of least resistance, so with a reading of over 100 or so, or even less, you may be reading through a chip, resistor, or other device in circut.
Hope this helps.
