My PS2 dropped last night and now it is having problem reading DVD games. It can play DVD games when the system is upside down. CD games and DVD movies work fine. The PS2 is a V4 non-modded it. These are orginal games also. Thanks for any help in advance.

If you've dropped your PS2, then you only need to adjust the white cog. DON'T adjust your laser gain or laser angle.
Here's how to do the adjustment on the white cog:
Open up your PS2 and remove the ROM drive cover (four small black screws)
If you have a version 5, 6 or 7 machine, then you need to power up the PS2, press the eject button to open the tray, then turn the power off on the main switch on the back of your console. The tray needs to be left open.
Now, mark the white cog using a permanent marker so you know where its original position is.
Now, turn the cog clock-wise and keep turning it until you hear a load click and the laser sled assembly drops.
Now adust the cog (still in a clock-wise direction) until you return the mark you made to its original position.
Replace the ROM drive cover and test the machine.
If still no luck, then follow the same steps above, but this time adjust the cog approximately three small clicks clock-wise. Now test it again.
If still the same, then try an extra three more clicks. You can do this until the cog has been turned one quarter of its full rotation. If you still have no luck, then return the cog to its original position and try the same, but in an anti-clock-wise direction.
If after all that you still have problems, then you may need to adjust the laser angle, but this should be done as a last resort only.
Good luck my friend and please let us know how you get on.
    Regards,

Your most welcome for the help.
Unfortunately compressed air can be a bit harsh on the laser, plus it won't clean it thoroughly, you should use some isopropyl alcohol and a cotton bud. But the isopropyl can be hard to obtain, so you could easily use methelated spirits instead.
You can improve disk loading by adusting your laser gain slightly, but you need the aid of a digital multimeter.
Let me know if you want to attempt it and I'll post instructions on how to do it.
