Hey Charlie_PS2 or anybody I have a Messiah 2 Question that deals with small rodents –

I installed a Messiah 2 in my USA, version 7 PS2 with 070 Bios
Everything boots correctly with no problems.
However, when I insert a dvd-rip the ps2 sounds like someone put tape over a hamsters mouth and tried to flush him down the toilet.
This only occurs with dvd-rips not psone cd-rs or ps2 cd-rs
(It doesnt click or it doesnt sound the sled is moving back and forth. It kinda sounds like someone is got the volume on low and scratching at high speed like a dj using an LP on a turntable.)
Should I try to adjust the cd pot?
Or
Should I just leave it alone?

"However, when I insert a dvd-rip the ps2 sounds like someone put tape over a hamsters mouth and tried to flush him down the toilet."
I am not quite as familiar with this particular "sound" but the noise coming from only dvd-rips is because its a dvd-rip. Generally, they don't preserve layout very well, causing the laser to jump around scanning the disc instead of the smooth reading that a normal game usually has. This is yet another reason why dvd-rips aren't all that and a bag of fritos..

Its sort of like a sputtering sound (more like the flushing toilet sound near the end of the flush)
I am not a big fan of rips either but I just thought that was kinda odd.
Never heard that type prolonged sputtering before in a PS2

Don't touch the laser please. You'll possib;ly spoil everything else. I get this with some rips - it's the way they are laid out I reckon causing the head to move around instead of smoothly along the track from segment to segment. Something like that.

well, i have a similar problem, and i have a fix.
My PS2 used to read the PS2Reality Media Player Just Fine, Until Now It Spins the disc like crazy and it takes me to browser/config screen, what you should do is get a COPY of a Bootdisc i.e. AR2/GS2/Swap Magic/DVDx Copy Or original will work, and swap, like a neokey, boot as a normal disc in the ps2, not psx mode or OFF, and press Eject when you get to The Start Game Without Codes Or Main Menu
Note: If You Don't Have A Dongle With The AR2/GS2, Press Start When You See The Error Message Running Across The Screen, And It Should Take You To The Start Game Screen, Then Select Without Codes.
