help w/ Magic 3 & V4

Firstly, the absence of the swirling balls just means you need to reset your system configuration from your browser screen. Since the need to remove the backup battery when doing a mod on a V4, all your time and date settings have been reset. Just go into your system settings and setup the time, date etc., that will give you your swirling balls back.
As for your PS2 not booting anything DVD based, there's a 99.9% probability that your laser is cactus. I've seen this problem many times and the only solution is to replace the laser.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but something has been done during the mod chipping process that's killed that side of things. Unfortunately its unkown what causes it. In some cases, the opposite to what your encountering may occur. i.e. It refuses to pay anything CD based, but will play DVD based stuff fine. This is one major mystery.
Regards,
Relayer

Well, if I read this right, you will never get DVD games to work booting like this. The mode you are choosing by holding reset until the blue light comes on is for PS1 games and DVD MOVIES only. For DVD based games, it is a simple tap of the reset button.

Okay, i tried it that way for PS2 dvd games and nothing happened. I think the laser needs adjusting or a new one. Do anyone here know what screw you use to adjust the laser's height?

I know how you feel....but I think alot of the problem was based more on boot method than anything else. Sometimes, though, the poster will take the advice and not report back. Actually, most of the time this happens. It doesn't diminish the value of your suggestions, though, so please don't stop posting. Just think how many people search this forum for answers and may come across one of your very helpful posts months from now. Guess what, you just helped someone else and didn't even know it. Believe me, your posts are very helpful so please don't stop.
