I have a Matrix Infinity and a PS2 v 9 console. There are these difficult to solder points in the back (DVD points) because the solder just won't stick to the pad. I tried preheating the solder points, and even tried scraping the area a bit so that I can see the contact point. I tried flux. Man it's driving me crazy. Anyone have tips on how to make my life easier?

I gently scrape them with a razor blade to get them to a nice shiny copper. After this I just melt the solder on them.
or u can solder to the ic on the other side of the board
I highly recommend you to use the right soldering tip. e.g. the 0.012" soldering tip. Once you get the right soldering tip and wrapping wire, the soldering points you mentioned will become pieces of cake.

Soldering to VIA's is a pain and unreliable.
Solder the wires to chip's pins instead. Use two small pieces of razor blade stuck between pins so the lead does not leak all over.
Also -- given the ridiculous prices some of these guys charge (E.g. under $50) i'd rather pay somebody to do it and enjoy life playing!
i prefer soldering to the vias - never had any problems before. scrape off the green stuff, apply flux, tin the vias and the wires stick with no problems.
im only 16 and all i basically did was scrape the point with a kitchen knife (xacto if you have it) with no fux, i thin just stuck the 30 gauge exposed end tip of the wire down into the hole, i met solder on the tip of the wire, and the solder flows down into the hole creating a nice tight connection. clean points with alcohol first. i practiced on a dead v4 motherboard before i did on my gh040-52 matrix infinity.:dance: :banghead: :-pra:chinscrat y:
