  1. #1 Question HELP w/ GAMESHARK
    neomatrix Guest
    I have the following:
    US Ver.1 PS2
    Neo 2.2

Does it matter what version gameshark I buy? Can I go out and buy any old gameshark at best buy or etc...?

None of those will boot DVD-R. Plus, it is unlikely that you will find anything but 2.x at Best Buy or any other retail outlet. I think your chances of finding those old versions are slim.

If you want to try booting DVD-R (may not be possible with your current chip) get a 1.9x or later.

Not true. I use a GS v1.3 to boot dvdr on my v1 ps2. Actually, my v1 can't even read the brand new GS 1.99d upgrade disc I purchased.

FWIW -- My v1 with an Origa works perfectly with v1.99d. If you're using a Neo 2.2 you ARE going to eventually cook the laser diode and have to replace the laser head. The Origa puts no such burden on the laser head the way the increased voltage coming out of the Neo 2.2 does...

Origa enables DVD-R booting with other GS2 versions. For Neo, or other swap mods, a 1.9x or higher is required. The user who posted the question has a Neo 2.2
