the PS11 blew... and from what i hear if the BA5815 pin 8 is grounded then that chip is bad...
i have checked another ps2 with the ba5815 chip and that point is not grounded like my broken ps2...

on the working ps2 though, its a v7 but theres a resistor/capacitor beside the ps11 fuse but my broken v7 doesnt have one.

    should i replace the chip?

i have tried replacing the fuse, but it blows again...
    any suggestions?

    Note: this is a v7 with a magic 3.1

yet anotgher example why magic chips suck and are not compatible with v7 systems.. i bet your ps2 board is a gh-017 ? Take out that chip and wires.. clean up all the solder points.. then replace the fuse and it should be fine.. if you can get ti back to normal working condition buy a dms3 and install that.

Not that I think the magic 3.x is great or anything but I have installed at least 50 in V7's with NO installation problems at all and also never had one kill a PS2 board. I have seen a few bad chips but they never kill the PS2. Try to replace the BA chip replacments can be had at www.foundmy.com Then replace the fuse.

i think the dead BA chip is not totally due to modchip or bad install.....bad dvd-r media(for movie) and bad Ventilation(heat) can also be the cause ...i saw one myself....dead BA chip without a mod ever installed inside...
