I'm chipping a V3 with a messiah2 at the moment, and for my own reasons i want to use flux spray, so i ordered this stuff, but before i'm using it i want to make sure i'm having the right product.(i'm in holland i have no radio shack or simmilar, i'm happy i can get 0.5mm solder now, took me 1 month smaller than that isn't possible)

    This is the discription

FLUX SK10 Protector, solder-active(Brands name is KontaktChemie)

Used for pcb's protective coating against axidation and dirt, Soldering flux.(then comes shake can blablablabla)

Can anyone confirm this is the right product?, if it is, Can someone tell me how to apply it gently since Shadownknight is hammering bout how corrosive flux is(like spraying it on something and using that to apply it to the chiplegs For instance a Qtip)

And How do i clean up after using flux spray?

Any hints on this are welcome

BTW im assuming this is the right product if not can anyone put the text of the can ore product here since all brands are different here and i'm going nuts getting this flux(wanted it for my own v6 ps2 but got it working without it)

I would suggest a flux pen, or flux paste. The flux attracts the solder to the area and it is very corosive, so only a tiny bit is used.

It sounds like you ordered an overcoat spray (used to protect the board AFTER the soldering done)

Rosin Flux (best to use a pen), burns at a fast temperature, solder is attracted to the flux because it burns hotter than your soldering iron and the connection on the board. The one I use is Circuit Works (model# CW8200) if you want to look it up.

The second thing that says DANGER to me is that you?re going to do the install with solder wire. Have you downloaded an instruction manual for a Mod chip? The all say use SOLDER PASTE (very different than solder wire). And solder paste usually has Flux in it (bonus), although I use more anyway.

As far as clean up goes (after everything is done) there shouldn't be much, just don't use much flux to began with. That why I say go with a pen it's less messy.
