I want to use the Sony HDD to load REO and SocomII faster. The problem is that I have a messiah 2 pro chip installed on the system. So I am planning to replace the chip with DMS3v2. I have look at both installation guide for version 7 of the PS2 and it seems that both uses the same PS2 motherboard pins, the question is would there be any problem if I just cut off the Messiah 2 pro and just use the same wire? I would just need to solder the wires to the DMS3 chip and leave the wires to the motherboard alone.

Use your soldering iron to remove the messiah mod and re-solder the wires to the proper points on the dms3

Really it depends on chip placement. The DMS is much more picky than the messiah beause more power runs through it. If you are using 30awg wire now for the power and ground, you may want to switch to a thicker wire. I use 26awg multi strand hook up wire on all my installs just to be safe and not to have to go back and do it. If you change the points over, and you experience dificulty, you may have to check out where others are placing these chip and just start the install all over. WHat work for one chip may not work for another.

Good luck, though I went to a DMS chip in my personal v7 and I hated it, to I put my messiah back in.

Hmmm, okay. One more question, does backup games like SocomII(DNAS cracked) work with the HDD? I mean load from it assuming the modchip is DMS3?

I think HDD support with DMS3 is only for running homebrew games. I have DMS3 in my v9 and a network adapter with HDD support but haven't attached a HDD to it yet, although I do have a 10GB here I took from an xbox to try.

I meant can you installed backup games(with DNAS cracked) onto an official Sony HDD(the one that came with FFXI) and will it still work? Or only original game will install and load from the HDD?
