Help with PS2.

O.K i just bought a PS2 (forget what version it is!!!)
But the game loads and then freezes.
It has not been modded in any way.
Now i have not tried to repair it yet, but im leaning
towards it as a lazer problem.
Has anyone had this problem before???
I know that the red screen of death is also a lazer
problem as i have already fixed these problems before.
But this is the first time i have ever got one that does
start up but then freezes.

Did you buy it new or used?

Did you test more than one PS2 game and/or different DVD/CD support?
Did you test PS1 games?
Did you test DVD movies?

Its a used PS2,
It freezes on the movies and the ps2 games but i did not check the ps1 games.
Yes the fan does spin.

So you are for sure this PS2 has NOT been modded? If not it is sounding like the laser is eaither shot or on the verge of going out. Did you try to clean the lense?

No i have not tryed cleaning it yet.
Im going to try it and also adjust the lazer to see
if i can kick start some more life into it.
Or else i will have to buy a new lazer.
