I opened my console then the CD drive and turned on the PS2 and the disc is not spining ..,

So what's the problem .. and can fix it at home ?

You may have damaged the ribbon cable going from the switch bank to the motherboard internaly. Check the cable for continuity, you'll find that it may be the root of your problem.
If it is damaged, you can get a replacement from Liksang. Here's the URL:

    I hope the above helps.

your ba chip may be damage due to a voltage spike and also the 2amp fuse marked 50 beside it, a quick test for the ba chip is count to pin 8 and test this to ground if you get a reading or a buzzer sounds the ba needs replacing and also the fuse beside it this is deffo not a reset cable problem.

this is deffo not a reset cable problem.
dwdjp is 100% correct. Stupid me didn't read your post properly, as the key words were: " the disc is not spining"
So I have to second the motion that your BA chip is the cause of your problem. Sorry if I've caused any confusion.

    Thanks,

What the hell? I posted the same effin' problem two days ago!!! My post is still fragglin on page 1, yet I didn't get any help!! Was it the philosophy of "help the man in the emergency room who is screaming more?" Maybe it was the capitalization of his Title plus the phrasing of "PLZ" ?? Anyways, I'll try these tips on my ps2, and let you know if the secondhand smoke way of getting my problem solved worked. Its because I'm a black man, isn't it? ... oh wait... I'm not .. dammit ...

Seriously though, What/Where is the BA chip?? Can someone perhaps point me in the direction of where it might be on a v7 board?? A picture would be nice. Thanks guys.

BA5815FP/BA6664FM (about an inch in length, with either code written on it) chip failure. These chips are together in a pair.

PROBLEM: You get a black screen on boot and theres no light for the eject button. The eject button is also not working (the tray wont eject)

One or both of the BA chips may have shorted.

SOLUTION: Try testing pin 8 (the pin just after the large central pin, obviously counting from 1 from the small circular indent in one corner of the chip) on either BA chip with a mulitmeter set on continuity test, with ground. If the meter gives off a beep then the chip will need replacing.

I'm about to open up this guy and get out all my testing stuff. IF either of these two chips went bad, where could I buy a replacement chip for them? Is it even possible to replace these chips, or is my ps2 doomed? Thanks again guys
