help pls!! advice needed!!

hi guys:)

right i'm here again with more probs on my v12 chipping exploits :banghead:

i installed a modbo 1.2 in a v12 and just got the rsod, checked all the wiring and it looked good so i had a modbo 1.1 and thought i'd leave all the wires where they were on the mobo and just swap the chips over (first image attached)

i slaved the ps2 back together to test and checked and wahey!! it worked the ps2 booted with mi logo below the "playstation 2" logo, the girlfriend then came and dragged me to go food shopping but i was cool as i'd manged to sort this ps2.

i get back 1hr later, thought i'll just give it another go before i hot glue the mutha and i get no mi logo and the rsod!!?! i don't know what could of happened in the time i was out :crazy:

i then thought maybe it was as my bios wires weren't too tidy so i desoldered them all, solder wicked all the solder left and started again, trying to copy a pic from the "pics only thread" making it alot tidier.

so i finish power on with my fingers crossed and.... nope she's still giving me the rsod :banghead:

both images are attached, pls can u guys see if theres anything glaring i've missed as i'm at a low ebb here at the mo :cry:

booted up the pstwo after it had been standing for a couple of days and it booted the backup with the mi logo etc :dance:

then tried rebooting and its just giving me the rsod again now :banghead:

triple checked all my wiring and it all looks good :chinscrat

could it be a power or earth prob and the chip isn't getting power in the first place??

after another scan with the magnifying glass i've noticed a pin prick sized hole in the insulation on the 'r' wire could this be a prob??

Hi,

your install did look OK to me.
Maybe you can fix shorter GROUND if it works sometimes and sometimes not.

Do you ALWAYS get MI screen?
If its RSOD it should be releated to the dvd points like H,I,J,A,B,F.
Do also check that H is connected.

ok m8 many thanks for the reply, do u know of an alternative gnd point closer or do u recommend moving the chip location?

i don't get the mi screen at all now just rsod, thats the weird thing it booted once with the mi screen and loaded the backup, then rsod all the time, i can't get my head round how it did it once then nothing

maybe i should re do all the dvd points then see if that helps??

seem there is something on your H point solder. its not that clear on 2nd pic but seem to much solder on it. for ground you can try magic s+ chip ground point.
