Never worked with a PS2 before, but I plan on modding my version 9 in the coming week. I've researched around and have been recommended by many people the DMS4, so I think I'm going with the DMS4 S.E. PRO. Would this be the right decision for my model?
EDIT: I've noticed a lot of people around here are using the Infinity chip..would you recommend that over the DMS4, and why?
I've also read about V9/10 PS2's having problems with lasers dying out shortly after modding. Because of this, I've looked into the romeo mod. Will I need the Romeo mod with the DMS4 and should I really take the extra step in applying this before putting in my DMS4?
Finally, is there anything else I should know about what kind of wire I should use, as well as any suggestions or warnings to a first-timer about disassembling and reassembling the console itself?
Thanks, guys.

both chips are good matrix infinity have lots more updates in firmware than dms.
v9/10 should always apply the romeo fix no matter what chip you get and if this is your first time soldering than my suggestion is you should get an installer to install the chip for you

I guess I'll be going with the DMS, then. Btw, it's not my first time soldering, just first with PS2..
So what kind of wire should I use on the mod chip?

have a look at the DMS3 website, it tells you all the stuff like wire size location etc.. to use and the tricks to prevent faulty installs. i had a look but cant find the same info on the dms4 website.

no matter what chip is used - i'd strongly recommend using the romeo mod.
