Help, New PS2 39001 don't boot dvd –
08-15-2003,08:37 AM
Hi all,
I'm new in this forum, but a week ago i had read every post.
Ok, the description and symptom are:
PS2 39001 V7 New 7/1/03
Magic 3.1 red PCB (orig)
I can BOOT PS1 and PS2 games Music cd, on CD, CDR, CD-RW. ALL on CD
I can't BOOT any DVD.
A week ago can Boot DVD and DVdR, but 4 or 5 day ago began to hang and now won't boot any dvd.
I had tried, cleaning the lazer lens, azimuth adjust, white gear on back (try elevation), pot for voltage lazer lens adjust, check every point connection over mainboard of M3 for possible unconnection, are all ok.
I can't return or carry to service in which bought, this is 1100 miles from my house.
Any suggestion will be appreciate.
thank you in advance.
regards
Azoko

Sounds like a wire has come loose. Open it up and check it out.

Thank you all,
Ok Bighap, I have checked every point from M3 Chip to the mainboard with my ohm meter, this is all right. The points are the corrects.
Yes, the DVDs worked ok before. Could it be that the lazer lent is dead yet, with only a week of work?
Relayer, the points are ok, and they have continuity from M3 to mainboard.

Hey, have the masters any idea?

Idea...simple, restart! Remove the chip...and see if it boots DVD's up now, I suspect it probably will. And be on the look out for solder balls...they may be small but can cause chaos.

boot the ps2 with the chip off (hold reset till browser screen) and then try an original DVD Game... see what happens, post the result, if it FAILS, then yes, it's your laser.

You need to ck the W wire. I it will boot PS2 cdr games then The dvd controler wires and bios are probably ok but the W point may be bad or damaged.
