Sadly, it won't and only includes the Ethernet, no phone line. (not like it matters as playing on a dial-up connection is the pits!)
Anyways, once you have everything all installed with the HDD utility disk, it works like a charm. Best of all, you can change all the menus to English as well.
Best bang for your buck as you get a 40 Gig HD included.

The Linux Kit is designed exclusively for the Japanese model of "PS2", SCPH-10000,SCPH-15000 and SCPH-18000
includes:
-External 40GB Hard Disk
-Software in DVD-ROM
-10/BASE-T/100 BASE-TX Ethernet
-USB Mouse
-VGA cable
-USB Keyboard
Anyone GOING to Japan or the UK anytime soon
It's essentially the same thing, minus the software, mouse, keyboard, and VGA cable. Assuming you could get your hands on the HDD Utility Disk, this might be a better way to go as you get everything you need.

Haven't had a good chance to run though it, but I do know Socom does recognize the adapter. I just haven't had time to hook it all up yet. Will probably get to it sometime this weekend.

If you get the HDD, you'll know what I'm talking about. Basically, it looks like you're Blue covered Utility Disc, but in Red, and contains the driver for your Ethernet Card and HDD on it. It will write to your Memory card with the drivers, as well as installing the v2.10 DVD drivers as well. Fair warning about that, if you don't have a AR or DVDRX that supports it.

Sorry for the late reply. Been sticking my nose in the DMS3 thread all the time
TO answer your question......YES...it does work. I did a few games off of Socom last night. Everything connects fine and I have no problems. I don't have any other games to test at the moment, other than JAP online ones like FFXI. I'll try and give Tony Hawk 4 a try when I can rent it from the local Blockbuster.
