    Hello,

I just added summ0ne's fix to a V12 PS2, and now it doesnt give the disks a spin!? The laser unit works fine, and also it boots normaly (no disk's, but to menu). I also checked the ribbon cable to the engine that has to spin it with a multi meter and its fine. What could be wrong? It worked fine before adding the fix (I am not blaiming it though )

plz. check the topic here espacialy my last post. Normally I wait patiently for replies, but my costumor is getting inpatient, and who can blaim him.

    Thanks for your help

Check the resistors that you soldered the fix to. Most likely thats your problem.

Bingo. Those resistors are surprisingly susceptible to heat (burned a few myself) and will definitely cause a no spin condition.

They may have the correct resistance, but do they still have good conectivity to the board (are they still well soldered down)
    Tired, so very tired

    hey,

It now spins again after also replacing the smd pointed by the arrow.
But now it still doesnt boot games, becuase it starts spinning, and then stops, to then start all over again. It never pics up a right speed to boot I'd say... What could be wrong?

Also what do the colors of the resistors meen? not the striped color code, I can read those... Becuase I asked for 1/4 watt as suggested, but I dont think the guy took me serious becuase I have 3 different colors, green and 2 kind of bleu ones. witch color meens 1/4 watt, and can it be a problem to have like a 1/8 watt installed?

    DonMartin:

I had exactly same issue as you.
    This is what I did.

First, i checked the SMD and they were OK. So i guessed it wasent good connectivity to board, so i removed them.

I apply 2 new resistors like you did, and now it spinning but dont reed.
I replaced the laser, and WOLA, works!

I think your laser/coils got ****ed when u turned ur PS2 on when the smd wasent attached to the board.

thanks espen, I might have to replace it to I guess, where did you buy your replacement? I saw divinio is very cheap but dont read a lot of good about them.

Wich smd did you have to replace? I have now replaced 3 of them, as seen in the pic.
